Rain, milder temperatures expected
In Saturday’s 1-0 win over Paraguay, temperatures soared toward 30C and England claimed that a number of their players were dehydrated as the game progressed. They said some lost up to 10 pounds in sweat by the end of the game. They claimed that referee Marco Rodriguez did not allow them water during late stages in the second half. “There were a couple of times when the officials didn’t want us to have a drink and that’s something that needs to be worked out,” midfielder Joe Cole said.
Added Football Association’s Adrian Bevington: “We will talk to FIFA about the water situation.”
