New single from Majic
With a video in the works, both the audio and the visual versions were officially launched on May 29th at the St James Club and Casino in St James.
Timed to coincide with Rapso month (May) Rapsoman extraordinaire Ozy Majic leads the charge of new releases with this scorcher. Co-Founder of the 90’s super group Home Front (Best known for the vanguard tracks “Free Yuh Self” and “Rollin”) Majic has since gone solo venturing into the production and promotional fields. He has most recently produced for Maximus Dan, Andyventure, New York Hip Hop Star Black Child, Jamaican Artiste Nardo Ranks and others.
Following an impressive carnival season which saw his single “Real Trinis” receiving widespread radio and video airplay, Ozy majic has decided not to wait till next carnival season to release a follow up track. Known for his undying commitment to the art form and to Trinidad and Tobago art and culture, Mr Majic has spread out into radio broadcasting now the host of his very own Rapso radio show, The Micstand on Trini Bashment 91.9 every Monday from 11 am to 1 pm. Pressed for a comment on the state of the rapso movement Majic said; “Rapso needs to be re-defined as to what it come to do. We all know what it is. Rapso is a way to connect with other emerging forms on the Diaspora, among other things, it is also the primary means by which we could achieve year round music activity and not just for a season.”
Recorded on the Lucky Seven riddim the track entitled “Bounce And Spin” (aka: “Shake The Change In Yuh Back Pocket”) is set to re-introduce the Rapso vibe to the contemporary party circuit.
