2 in court for $2.5m ganja
Allan Harrylal and Chris Maharaj appeared before Magistrate Marcia Caesar-Ayres charged with being in possession of 251 kilos of marijuana.
They were reportedly held by members of the TT Coast Guard around 1 am on Thursday in the Gulf of Paria near to Couva. They were reportedly held in a pirogue called “Sunami”. When the vessel was searched, ten crocus bags containing the marijuana were allegedly found.
The two men were arrested and taken to Staubles Bay and later handed over to the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau.
Harrylal was granted $1 million bail with two sureties to be approved by the Clerk of the Peace. But Maharaj was denied bail, but advised that he could apply to a Judge in Chambers for bail. The case was adjourned to June 26.
