YTEPP GRADS TOLD: LEARN FOR LIFE
“In doing so, you not only enrich your own fortunes but the future of others,” he told them.
In his address at the graduation ceremony of YTEPP at University of the West Indies Sporting Complex, St Augustine on Saturday, Julien told the graduates that learning must become a part of their lives.
He added, “We all need to make lifelong learning a part of our lives. In so doing one continues to become active contributors to not only their own development but to society at large.”
“How do we become lifelong learners?” he asked.
“We can start by sharing the knowledge we already have with our peers and spending some time reading,” he said, noting there is always formal learning through the education system.
“The real test,” he said, “is having the burning desire to continue from this point onwards to achieve more success in your lives. Graduating here should not be the end but the beginning.”
He added, “Bearing in mind that success is not necessarily financial, but can also be the feeling of self worth.”
“You have sucessfully taken on the challenge of this programme (YTEPP) and have won, but remember this is just a stepping stone on your life journey.”
He said, “After you have savoured this moment, begin planning your next adventure in learning, do some research and start taking the next step towards accomplishing it.”
He reminded the graduands that they must broaden their horizons and explore new areas.
“We live in an information age , there are no limits to what you can accomplish. In fact, you all are only limited by your own imagination.”
