Ames Junior Pro-Am at Moka

He will host the second annual Stephen Ames Cup at the St Andrew’s Golf Course, Moka, Maraval from July 26-28.

The Pro Am takes place on July 25, with the golfers teeing off at 8.30 am while a clinic will be staged from 3.30-4.30 pm and the opening ceremony getting underway at 5 pm.

The three-day tournament will involve competitive battles between junior golfers from Trinidad and Tobago and Canada, with two players from each country participating in the following age groups— Boys’ Under-15, Boys’ and Girls’ 16-18, Boys’ and Girls’ 19-21.

Action starts on July 26 with a better-ball contest at 9 am, while on July 27 will see the alternate shot competition from 8 am and, the following day, the singles match-play event will be staged at nine o’clock.

The cup was launched last year by the Stephen Ames Foundation to provide a unique competitive opportunity to junior golfers from Trinidad and Tobago and Canada.

Ames, one of the leading money-earners on the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) 2006 circuit, will arrive in Trinidad on July 24, the day after the British Open.
