TT boxers win, lose at CABA Games

In the Juniors TT’s Khalid Rowley defeated Jarrett Dean of the Bahamas in a Super Heavyweight encounter, while Bryan George got the better of Guyana’s Daimee Elcock 16-7 in the seniors lightweight semi-finals.

But in the earlier fight it took the referee just 46 seconds into the second round to bring the contest to a premature halt and award Rowley the victory.

But it was the Bahamian who had taken an early lead in the bout 28-17 when Rowley turned on some unexpected heat.

With the win Rowley secured a place in the final which will take place on Saturday.

But TT boxer Rawle Joseph did not have much luck. He was beaten by Julius Jackson of the defending nation United States Virgin Islands (USVI).

The referee was also called upon to stop the fight after one minute and 53 seconds into the second round, with Jackson leading 20-6 on the scorecards.

Trinidad and Tobago also triumphed among the women when Lee Ann Boodram destroyed Geraldine Davis of Dominica.

Boodram recovered from a mandatory eight-count by the referee while leading the contest 15-7 in the second round.

But Boodram came back to life with a succession of punches that forced the referee to stop the fight.
