All Stars energises NY performance

It was at the new KC Caribbean Hideaway at 2494 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn that All Stars created a bit of history as they backed the Local James Brown of Soca KC when he performed several James Brown classics like “It’s a Man’s World” and “Sex Machine.”

Most of the youths in the audience and not familiar with the Godfather of Soul’s (James Brown) music were thrilled with the performances.

One of New York’s top steel orchestras, the Caribbean American Sports and Cultural Youth Movement (CASYM) was on all the billings with All Stars. Led by Arddin Herbert CASYM proved to be a very worthy opening act for All Stars. The band performed a variety of music to the appreciation of the audiences throughout the tour.

All Stars on the other hand could do no wrong, with players filled with energy they made the steel pans talk.

During their second performance CASYM and All Stars were joined by New York Panorama champions Sonatas Steel Orchestra.

The Bronx performance was billed as a Caribbean Concert on location at the River Plaza Shopping Centre where Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr tried his hands at playing pan.

Sponsors Daily News Vice President Promotions and Community Affairs John G Scampi acted as MC for the evening.

The only hiccup on the tour was the trouble the engineers had with amplifying the pans, just like here in Trinidad and Tobago it was a nightmare.

But that did not stop the people in both the Bronx and Brooklyn from enjoying the sweet sounds of the national instrument coming from the Neal and Massy Trinidad All Stars.
