Littlepage stars but TT 2nd

Puerto Rico finished with 1498.5 points to be clear winners ahead of Trinidad and Tobago with 884 points and the Bahamas who had 681.5 points to be third.

However, Cross and Littlepage still managed to share the spotlight in their respective events.

Competing in the Boys 18-and-over 100 metres breaststroke, Cross shaved almost two seconds off Kevin Hensley’s two-year old record as he clocked 1:06.88 minutes to touch the wall first.

The Dominican Republic’s Arturo Montilla clocked 1:07.21 minutes to also eclipse the old mark and finish second while Jose Perez finished third in 1:07.27 to also claim a share of the record.

Littlepage created his fireworks in the same age category while competing in the 1500 metres freestyle as he clocked 16:57.24 minutes to beat the old mark of 17:32.54 minutes.

Puerto Rico claimed second and third in the event as Ramon Barreto and Jesse Vassallo got to the wall ahead of the field.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Walter Romany also grabbed some attention with two outstanding performances in the Boys 13-14 age group.

In the 100 metres freestyle, he clocked 55.05 seconds to touch the wall ahead of the second placed Joshua Garcia of Puerto Rico (56.80) and third placed Victor Munoz of the Domincan Republic (56.87).

Romany returned in the 100 metres backstroke to slam the field, clocking 1:02.80 minutes to finish almost two seconds clear of the second placed Jemille Vialet of the US Virgin Islands who finished in 1:04.75 minutes.

Suriname’s Marcelino Richaards was third in 1:05.34 minutes.
