34% SEA students fail maths

Students feared better in the Creative Writing section with 70.1 percent gaining above 50 percent while 29.9 percent of the students had trouble in this area. But for the Language Arts part of the paper, 71.7 percent of the students were successful in this area, with 28.3 percent going below 50 percent.

In terms of actual number of students, this translates into 12,323 students getting over the 51 percent marks, with 6,396 scoring a lower percent in the mathematics exam.

For Creative Writing, 15,327 had marks of 10 and over out of 20, with 3,392 below average, and 13,424 out of the 18,719 students who sat the exam obtained a mark of over 51 percent in Language Arts, while 5,295 fell below average.
