San Juan Rotary Club hands over to new President

On Saturday July 1, Peter Maturine officially handed over the mantle of leadership of the San Juan Rotary Club to Fazal Mohammed.

It was a gala affair held at the Bottecelli’s Restaurant at Grand Bazaar. Three children of Rotarians were awarded plaques for their successes in the recent SEA, having passed for their first choices.

Long standing Rotarian and past president Gupte Lutchmedial was awarded Rotarian of the year (2005-2006).

A Paul Harris Fellow was awarded to past president Brishendath Mahadeo. Feature speaker Dr Desmond Ali reaffirmed the need to serve mankind through social work and also the value of Rotary in the community.

He also spoke about service in an environment of rapid change. Dr Ali encouraged the children to support and be a part of their parents’ work.
