‘Sexy’ Baynes leads South Caribbean Open

Baynes carded six birdies and had only one bogey in his round yesterday, amazingly slotting in birdies at the last five holes.

National junior team reserve Aldoray Downes who plays off a two handicap and Glen Redhead, an eight handicapper, went around in 74 each to share second position.

Fitz Neptune leads the Open First Division with a gross score of 85, two ahead of a four-man group which include Heerman Baldeo, Nicholas Mouttet, Glen Shah and Suresh Jagessar, all on 87 each.

The Open Second Division is led by Subash Ranjitsingh who carded a gross 87, one stroke ahead of both Nick Carmona and Stephen Scoon on 88 each, with Rawlins Amal and Kumar Salick sharing third both on 89 each.

The Senior First Division is headed by Surooj Harripersad who shot a gross 84, one ahead of Rolly Davis 85, with Adolph Isaacs next on 86 and Monty Chapman, better known in tennis circles and Glen Noel tied on 87 each.

Sheriff Babwah with a gross 87 is ahead in the Senior Second Division while Noel Kallicharran, Edward Kent and Jevan Mohess are all on 89 each.

Up to press time yesterday, Stableford Division results were not available.

Meanwhile, before the start of the tournament on a soggy course made so by early morning showers, golfers and guests were serenaded by Destiny.

And Tobago House of Assembly tourism head Neil Wilson welcomed participants.

Readymix Marketing Manager Gerrard Torres re-affirmed his company’s commitment to the tournament and promised greater involvement in the future.

Mandrake Khan, a regular golfer and senior banker, won the door prize of a set of Taylor Made RAC golf clubs.
