Censor foreign misery

This is my plea for all foreign news, especially the violence to be aired only during the 10 pm or later newscasts, if at all.

As an adult I am sometimes overwhelmed by the violence of man against man for the most spurious of reasons. How can we expect our young and impressionable minds to take this in and not be affected? Why should our children be allowed to become so accustomed to violence that it no longer bothers them? Why should we?

When I see Israelis and Palestinians, Pakistanis and Indians, Africans and Africans bombing and killing each other with no regard for the life of another human being, or for their family, or for their environment or property, it sends a powerful message and I know that I do not want my children to see this and to become immune to such inhumanity.

So please, let’s forget about the foreign news at 7 pm and in its place have a “Good News/Great News” slot so that our children can see that good and great things are happening in our country and in the world and that they can do some of these good and great things.
