Joseph: $23 million security cameras coming

The disclosure came in response to a question from Senator Wade Mark, who wanted to know if Government intends to purchase, install and maintain security cameras in all business districts in TT.

Joseph said it was proposed that the pilot phase would include downtown Port-of-Spain, covering the area bounded by Park Street to Independence Square and Richmond to Charlotte Street, and San Fernando’s city centre, covering High Street from the bus terminus at King’s Wharf to Coffee Street, and the Harris Promenade area (including City Hall, the police station, law courts and the hospital).

Joseph said subject to the evaluation of the pilot system, permanent CCTV systems will be put in place at all business districts in TT. He said it will be implemented by a single prime contractor and his ministry intends to extend the tendering process locally and abroad.
