Boy,13, dies after epileptic seizure

But, the 13-year-old boy would not be among his classmates when school re-opens on September 4, because he collapsed and died on Monday while attending a Literacy Remediation Camp, at the Princes Town Junior Secondary School.

It was Nemai’s second day at the camp, sponsored by the Ministry of Education.

According to a police report, it was around 12.05 pm when Nemai was sitting in his classroom. He suddenly fell to the floor. Classmates and teachers tried to revive him, but were unsuccessful. Nemai was rushed to the Princes Town District Health Facility where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy conducted at the San Fernando mortuary revealed that Nemai died as a result of an epileptic seizure. Nemai lived at Torrib Trace,Tabaquite, with his parents – Ria and Ralph Ramsaran and three brothers. Christ College is located 20 miles at Fairfield Road, Princes Town. Yesterday, grief-stricken mom Ria, told Newsday: “I lost my eldest child.

He left for school and now he dead. I have not even seen him yet. I cannot handle this.” Ria told Newsday that the family received a telephone call at about 12.20 pm on Monday informing them what had happened.
