TT fourth in Guyana rugby

With the United States, who were the eventual winners, a guest team, the TT lads were third amongst the Caribbean outfits.

The Americans steam-rolled past the hosts 86-0 in the final while Jamaica, who were adjudged as the best Caribbean team on show, whipped Trinidad and Tobago 17-5 for the regional title.

Jamaica had two tries, in the eighth and 14th minutes, and subsequent conversions, before Michael Augustus got TT’s lone try in the 42nd minute. But Jamaica got a late try to seal the win.

Satish Samaroo, a full-back from Guyana, was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade.
