30 Trinis trapped in Lebanon

The report added that Trinidadians Nina and Natasha Tommy who live in Beirut, Margo Aboud of Bayshore in Port-of-Spain and Claudette Alfred of Bayshore, were among thousands of persons from other countries trying to get out of Lebanon.

Albert Hadeed, Former Honorary Consul for Syria in Trinidad told reporters he made arrangements for another Trinidadian, Amal Mansoor, who was trying to get out of Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Trinidad is said to have contacted Trinidad’s High Commissioner in London, Glenda Morean-Phillip to assist Trinidadians trapped in Lebanon. Fighting between Lebanon and Israel has intensified over the past 12 days over two captured Israeli soldiers, sparking a massive evacuation of civilians.

Over 300 persons have been killed in the conflict.

Efforts by Newsday yesterday to get through to Morean-Phillip, a former Attorney General, to get the latest updates from Lebanon, proved futile.
