Boynes salutes junior athletes

This was contained in a letter sent to National Amateur Athletic Association (NAAA) president Ken Doldron.

“Trinidad and Tobago performed remarkably well at these games and once again showed the world that, though a small nation, we are a sporting powerhouse to be reckoned with.

“Our success in these games, as with many of our previous sporting and other achievements, was due as much to our depth of human talent as to assiduous preparation and astute management,” Boynes added.

The minister also commended Doldron.

“For, among other things, ensuring that our athletes were able to keep an unmitigated focus on their tasks,” he stated.

“We recognise that the team’s exploits show the heights that our sportsmen and sportswomen can attain when they exhibit the level of teamwork, camaraderie and commitment to each other and to country that pervaded our entire contingent.

“This facet of the team’s performance especially warms the hearts of Trinidad and Tobago supporters and, from it, we can all draw inspiring lessons,” he stated.
