TT scarred as blood flows

Western Division reported a total of 33 murders for the year. Northern Division had 38 murders; Eastern Division nine; Central 18; Southwestern five; Southern 14; Port-of-Spain 70; North-Eastern 39; and Tobago had two murders so far.

Seventeen minors under the age of 17 were killed. However, last year, 27 children were murdered across the country. Meanwhile, 21 of the victims were females. The number of reported kidnappings totalled 121, with seven of the victims being held for ransom.

The names of murder victims reported by the police or relatives are:

1. Jan 1. Andre Nicholas Bynoe alias “Baldhead” 35, of Barataria shot dead at 25th Street, Beetham Gardens, PoS. No arrest. Gang-related.

2. Jan 2. Helmut Daniel, 48, of Jones Trace, Diego Martin shot dead at home after an argument. Domestic problem.

3. Jan 2. Arvin Ragguette, 27, of Jackson Hill, East Dry River executed at his home. Gang-related.

4. Jan 3. Ray Neptune, 21, of Egypt Village, Point Fortin shot on November 17, 2005. Drug-related.

5. Jan 3. Ex-convict Dwayne Dunbar, 30, alias “Peng” of Building 74-76, Nelson Street, PoS shot dead while liming with friends at the corner of Prince and Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain. Gang-related.

6. Jan 3. Anthony Clement “Belch,” 35, of Woods Alley, Morvant shot dead after collecting “whe whe” winnings at Gofor Trace, near Pitch Road, Morvant. Gang-related.

7. Jan 4. Murder suspect Anthony George “Blacks,” 37, of Bascome Trace, Morvant shot dead while liming at Chaconia Avenue, Morvant. Gang-related.

8. Jan 5. Kurt Stove, 39, alias Friuty of Eight street, Malick was shot while walking between two Nelson Street apartments. Died at the PoSGH. Gang-related.

9. Jan 6. Paymaster William Bill Kaliff, 40, of Seventh Avenue, Malick, robbed and shot dead while paying workers at Chaconia Crescent, Maracas/St Joseph. Robbery.

10. Jan 7. Gopaul Gopeechan, 55, of Ramkalia Trace, Calcutta shot dead at home. Mistaken identity.

11. Jan 7. US citizen Ren Ramnarine, 22, shot dead at his father’s Ramkhelia Street, Freeport home.

12. Jan 7. Mastaq Benyoit, 16, of All Stars Crescent, Malabar shot dead while liming at Morvant Extension, Morvant. Gang-related.

13. Jan 8. Keston Daniel, alias Lao, 30, of Harding Place, Cocorite shot dead during a drive-by shooting at the corner of Noel Trace and St John Road, St Augustine. Drug related.

14. Jan 8. Deportee Chet Iton, 47, of Flagstaff Hill, Long Circular, St James shot dead while in a room with his girlfriend at Hirondell Street, Morvant.

15. Jan 8. Body of kidnap victim, former US soldier Baliram “Balo” Maharaj, 62, kidnapped from outside his family’s Aranjuez, home. Body found in parts at containers at Santa Cruz. Three charged. Matter before the courts.

16. Jan 11. Ray Daniel, 34, URP foreman of Upper Wharton Street, Laventille shot dead at his home. Gang-related.

17. Jan 11. Bevon Bernard, 22, of Trinidad Road, Wallerfield gunned down while standing at Sorzano Street, Arima. Gang-related.

18. Jan 12. Nigel Seebran, 28, of Syfoo Trace, Granville found buried in a grave close to his house. Gang-related.

21. Jan 14. Nigel Junior Davidson, 48, Village Council Street, Laventille was shot dead at Spring Vale, Trou Macaque. Davidson is a suspect in the murder of Ray Daniel on Jan 11. Gang-related.

22. Jan 14. Henderickson Joseph, 27, of Coral Gardens, Buccoo, Tobago stabbed while liming at Canaan.

23. Jan 14. Steveson Guerra, 20 a farmer of Ecclesville Rio Claro shot dead while hunting in the Rio Claro Forest. Accident. Two arrested.

24. Jan 15. Kestar “Jaggie” Jagessar, 29, of Upper Factory Road shot while returning from a nearby parlour. Gang-related.

25. Jan 17. Timothy Brown, 39, St Barbs Road, Belmont shot while plying his taxi along St Francois Valley Road, Belmont. Died at PoSGH. Gang-related.

26. Jan 17. Decomposed body of Harrilal Ragoonanan, 67, of Gasparillo found with his hands and feet tied with electrical cord and a chain around his neck in a wooden/galvanise hut inside a canefield at Rahaman Drive, off Borne Aventure Road, Gasparillo. Robbery.

27. Jan 18. Former hitman, URP labourer Brian “Sadaye” Joseph, 30, of Snake Valley, Laventille shot dead while loading his pick-up van at the corner of Gloster Lodge Road and Belmont Circular Road, Belmont. Gang related.

61. March 5. Shernele Codrington, 16 of of Rice Mill Road, Arouca skeletal remains found at Cleaver Woods, Arima with her hands tied. Police suspect she was strangled or suffocated.

69. March 7. Edwards Bates, 75, of Thick Village, chopped in his back. One arrested.

70. March 10. Hughvon D’Abreau, 21, of Morvant shot while visiting friends at Plover street, Morvant. Gang-related.

71. March 11. Daniel Tang, 21, of Bois Bande Road, Sangre Grande, shot dead while walking along Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande. Drug-related.

72. March 11. Sean Lecock, 31, of Fuastin Trace, Maraval shot dead at his buisness stall at Morne Coco Road, Diego Martin. Gang-related. One arrested.
