CLICO honours SEA students

The students, who were chosen from the various homes including the CREDO foundation for justice, the House of Grace and the Hope Centre, were described as representing the true spirit of making the best of what life gives you.

One of the guest speakers, Debra Maillard, portraying the character of “Philomania,” gave some insightful and encouraging words to the students.

“If there is something you want to do... go fuh it!” she said. She reminded the graduates that what they do today, could make it better for them tomorrow.

Judy Pereira, School Supervisor III, also shared some encouraging words. She expressed what she called the “five Ps.” “Please parents, prepare prayerfully, plan purposefully, peruse persistently and proceed positively. Take with you all the good values you have learnt,” she advised the children. Each student chosen will receive a $1000 book grant and will be insured with the Triple Protection Policy, to cover the student’s travelling expenses to and from school.

Some of the students said that they were happy to be honoured in this way and they were looking forward to starting classes at their new schools. It was also evident that the function did a lot to boost the self-esteem of many of the graduates.

The Education Ministry was represented by Judy Pereira, School Supervisor III, while Claire Gittens represented the Ministry of Social Development. CLICO’s representative was Jasmine Bain, the Head of the Sales and Distribution Department.
