Songshine at Trevor Edge

The group, though relatively new, has been making its presence felt in local culture forums. The group’s hard-hitting, revolutionary lyrics have made audiences stop and listen, with performances at this year’s 3Canal Show and The Beginning Concert. Word Sound and Power’s work has made it a return favourite at concert series like The Speakeasy, UWeSpeak, Writers Block and, of course, Songshine.

Word Sound and Power is made up of members Mark Lawrence, Muhammad Muwakil, Chike “BukaRoots” Pilgrim and Kyle “Skeeto” Amos. Two of its members, Muhammad and Skeeto, returned recently from a three-week stint in Kenya, where they worked as goodwill volunteers.

Fans at Songshine, who last saw the group at the Songshine’s first anniversary show, will be eagerly awaiting the group’s performance.

Songshine is an open mic concert series, where the stage is open to all to share their talents. This installation of Songshine takes place on Sunday at the newly-refurbished Trevor’s Edge, #1 St John Road, St Augustine. Admission is $20.
