Cycling Challenge helps Rainbow Rescue

Organisers of the Corkie’s One Hundred Mile Cycling Challenge say the real satisfaction came from knowing that they are making a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

Corkie’s teamed up with Digicel for this year’s Cycling Challenge which took place on July 2.

The event has grown over the years in popularity and the beneficiaries are usually charity organisations.

Following the event Rainbow Rescue was presented with a cheque which was received by CEO, Judy Wilson.

She thanked Digicel and Corkie’s for their contribution to the home which cares for socially displaced boys between the ages of ten and 19. Wilson stressed, “We need more corporate citizens like Digicel who are willing to step up to the plate and offer more than words to help us continue to do the work we do.”

For Digicel the donation to Rainbow Rescue is a continuation of the work the company has been doing with young people. Digicel has maintained a relationship with the St Michael’s School for Boys in Diego Martin and the company was the official sponsor of this year’s Harvard Coaching Clinic for young cricketers.

Digicel’s Sponsorship and Promotions Manager, Marita Laurent commended the home on the work it has been doing especially with its holistic development programme which enables the boys to develop healthy and positive attitudes.

Roger Traboulay, a representative from Corkie’s, thanked Digicel for its involvement in this year’s cycling challenge. “With Digicel’s assistance, we have been able to take the event to a higher level,” Traboulay said.
