Calls for unity at fisherman’s funeral

Scores of friends and well wishers gathered along the central Trinidad streets surrounding the funeral site. After quoting the Holy Quran Abdul Salaam appealed to citizens not to let religion or race divide them as they should come together as, “one nation.”. Mohammed, 25, lost his six-day battle to live on Friday after being shot by Coast Guard officers in a mysterious incident at sea last weekend. Speaking to reporters following the funeral, Chaguanas MP, Manohar Ramsaran made a call for immediate action by Government to bring those responsible for Mohammed’s death to justice.
