Perfect marriage is a myth
Many people are unprepared for the give and take required in marriage. They have unrealistic expectations of heavenly bliss that they turn into self created tragedies. Emotional growth is required in marriage. Marriage counselling can help couples solve many problems that are causing their problems that are most unnecessary and wanting in a sense of reality.
Positive attachment of the husband and wife to their mothers. Take part in social groups without eyeing another suggestively. Thrift and caution in spending money. Healthy pre-marital sex instruction. Ability to share all feelings with each other. Enjoyment of spending time at home. Ability to compensate without needing to dominate.
There are many things about our lives that cannot be controlled without difficulty. Nevertheless, marriage relationship can be improved with a greater realisation, that love has many facets and never runs perfectly, and that the idea of a perfect marriage is a myth. Husbands and wives should not be blamed irrationally in their behaviour. Some incompatibility is to be expected, for we all are not perfect. To err is to be human.
