Investigators told Newsday they are yet to receive a report from the ballistic expert and statements are expected to be recorded from two eyewitnesses. Yesterday, Chaguanas Member of Parliament Manohar Ramsaran wrote Social Development Minister Anthony Roberts pleading for assistance to be given to Mohammed’s widow and other relatives.

In his letter, Ramsaran asked that the family be provided with proper counselling and that two social welfare officers urgently visit with a view to assisting the Mohammed family financially and otherwise at this time.

“This family should not be neglected and I call for your immediate intervention,” Ramsaran stated in his letter.

Police Commissioner Trevor Paul revealed that Supt Martin Morrain, Head of the Port-of-Spain CID was appointed to carry out the investigation into the shooting of Mohammed who died on Friday afternoon, seven days after being shot in the head.

He was buried on Saturday following a funeral service at his Charlieville home.
