Trial continues despite power outage
Daniel, who is giving evidence against Anthony Perpignac also called Mark Adams, Anthony Mauge and Derek Perpignac, has been in the witness box for several days. Perpignac is jointly charged with Lawrence Blake with trafficking four kilos of cocaine in Cocorite on October 20, 2004.
The prosecution led by special prosecutor Dana Seetahal SC alleges that at about 2.45 pm on the day in question, Perpignac and Blake were found with 4.2 kilos of cocaine in four packages, US$116 and TT$5,446.
Daniel and another police officer reportedly intercepted their (Blake and Perpignac) vehicle at the exit to Bayside Towers car-park moments before the drug bust. The vehicle was driven by Blake.
Attorneys Wayne Sturge and Evans Welch are counsel for the accused men, while Cheron Raphael and Shoba Jamunar appear with Seetahal for the State. Hearing resumes today.
