Penal man murdered
His car a Nissan Datsun 280C, was discovered crashed against a Petrotrin pipeline almost a mile from where his body was found. Homicide detectives were yesterday searching for four suspects in connection with the murder.
Detectives are working on the theory that the men murdered Ramnath, then tried to escape in his car, but in their haste, crashed into the pipeline and escaped on foot. A police report stated that Ramnath’s body was discovered around 10 am by a Petrotrin contract worker who saw the corpse sprawled on the ground near to a Pumping Jack.
Homicide detectives said that Ramnath’s jersey was pulled over his head and he was lying in a crouched position. He appeared to have been beaten. District Medical Officer Dr Okwee examined the body and ordered it removed to the Forensic Science Centre where an autopsy will be carried out today.
Visiting the scene were Supt Samuel Jemmot and Inspector Hillary Breton. Investigations are continuing.
