In both categories, it came down to the final round-robin game to determine the title holder, but it was never in doubt.St Louis whipped Anthony “Sandfly” Brown 11-7, 11-8, 12-10 while Chung defeated Aleena Edwards 11-9, 11-2, 11-6.

The 38-year-old St Louis comfortably took the first set against Brown but the other two sets were tense affairs as Brown raced in front only to be denied by the experience and determination of the dreadlocked left-hander.

Trailing 0-5 in the second set, the three-time Caribbean champ rallied to win 11-8 while Brown was within one point of forcing a fourth set (10-7) but the veteran responded with five unanswered points to seal the win.

Chung and Edwards, the two leading TT women players, battled point for point for supremacy in the first set, as they were locked at 9-9 before Chung won the last two.

The 21-year-old Chung was never in trouble after that, as she used her strong forehand and quick reflexes to wear down her opponent in the next two sets.
