Teen to stand trial for murder

Foluke Dexter John, of Boxhill Trace, Laventille, was committed to stand trial at the next sitting of the Assizes after Guerra indicated he would not waste the court’s time by contesting that the State had not met the requirements for a prima facie case. However, Guerra described the prosecution’s case as “weak and tenuous.” The preliminary inquiry was heard before Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls at the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrates’ Court.

John, 19, is charged with the murder of Mickhail “Tokie” Alleyne, who was shot on April 21 at Boxhill Trace. Alleyne, who was 13 at the time, was taken to his home at Pelican Extension, Morvant, where he died.

John was charged by PC Stefano De Gale of the Port-of-Spain Homicide Bureau. State attorney Denise Badrie prosecuted.
