Tallest flag pole hoisted at Macoya

The flag will remain as a permanent fixture at FireOne Fireworks FX head office on Macoya Road, Tunapuna.

The flagpole was designed to handle winds 130 miles per hour without a flag and winds 90 miles with a flag.

On Saturday a 175 tonne crane was used to place the flagpole vertically on its foundation.

The “larger-than life” National flag will be hoisted during a commemorative event called “Live Large.”

The event which also marks the 44th anniversary of Independence is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 7 pm on Macoya Road, Tunapuna.

Andre Abraham of FireOne Fireworks said the company has had the honour of celebrating with the people of Trinidad and Tobago several of their achievements, from the splendour of Carnival to the recent successes of the Soca Warriors, and now the 44th year of Independence.
