Lara praises ‘indomitable’

“Sir Clyde Walcott was one of the greats of West Indies cricket. We should commemorate his successes as a player, manager and administrator,” Lara said recently.

“In fulfilling these roles he exhibited an indomitable spirit and a will to do what was right.

“He was an integral part of the Three Ws, which was a team within a team and their exploits at the time tell us much about the past and the evolution of not just West Indies cricket but of West Indian life.”

Lara said the period in which Sir Clyde played had been a watershed period in West Indies cricket history and stressed that as long as West Indies cricket was being discussed, the name Sir Clyde Walcott would always be prominent.
