Clippers beat D/Force in Supligen b-ball

But the Army’s second team avenged that result by taking a 1-0 series lead in the semi-finals of Division Two when they whipped Republic Bank Arrows 68-57. And in another Division Two semi-final, Straker Nets recorded their seventh consecutive victory when they beat TSTT Bmobile 84-61 and also claimed a 1-0 lead in a best-of-three series.

In the feature match of the night the Clippers took advantage of the loss of a few key players by the Defence Force in the match-up, among them Steven “Lighter” Lewis who has been suspended. Clippers, who strangely were also without impressive foward Simon Moreno got the better of the exchanges as they led at all quarters.

Miguel Williams and Curtis Carpette substituted adequately in the match, as Clippers led 19-12 at the end of the first quarter, and were ahead 35-31 at the end of the second.

With Williams scoring 16 points and Carpette 12 points the Clippers led 55-51 at the three-quarter stage before they wrapped up the victory.

Kervis King led the Army-Coast Guard men with 21 points, and Peter Lewis and Wayne Sandy got 11 apiece. In the Second Division match Jonathan Donawa scored a game-high 32 points for Defence force in their win over the Arrows who got 16 points from Orlando Mapp and 14 from Akil Roach.
