UNC Alliance choose final 18

Mickela Panday followed in the footsteps of her father, UNC leader Basdeo Panday, being nominated to contest the Oropouche West seat.

UNC incumbents Dr Hamza Rafeeq, Subhas Panday, Roodal Moonilal, Chandresh Sharma and Nizam Baksh all returned to face the polls for another time. Nariva MP Harry Partap was cheered as he hobbled on stage with the aid of a walking stick. Couva South MP Kelvin Ramnath, who is recovering from heart surgery in Canada, was cheered in absentia. Former UNC Minister Daphne Phillips was called out of political retirement while Bagatelle squatters group member Andy Williams, entered the political arena for the first time.
