DJ Lalo’s name will live on

Forty-nine-year-old Ragbir was killed, following a three-car smash up at the Trincity Mall intersection of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway on January 30.

Police reports stated that Ragbir was proceeding east when another driver heading in the opposite direction lost control of his vehicle, and slammed into the three tonne truck driven by the disc jockey, who subsequently rammed into another vehicle.

Ragbir was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

In delivering his eulogy yesterday, his eldest daughter Kumarie “Neisha” Ragbir tearfully thanked her father for being the family’s pillar of strength.

“Daddy you are the best father anyone could want. You have provided for us and have been there at all times to support and love us . Thank you for giving us a good life. No one could have asked for a better dad, ”she said.

Mourners from every walk of life spilled out of the two tents provided at “Lalo’s” College Trace St, Augustine home.

Pundit Hari Persad described the disc jockey as one who accomplished whatever he set out to do.

“The world should not mourn for him. I know that this is a hard time for the family and close friends but, the world should cry only for people who are falling short. If more people in this country were like him, we would have a better society. Death could only kill the body but it can never kill a good name,” Persad said.

Throughout the ceremony DJ Lalo was described as a person who influenced people’s lives positively and one who was always cooperative and humble.

DJ “Lalo” leaves to mourn his wife of 30 years Samdaye and three daughters Kumarie, Laura and Ornella.
