Paty hits hundred in Parkites draw
Replying to Preysal’s first innings score of 206 runs for seven wickets declared, the Parkites (overnight 28/1) posted 324 with Paty making 109, former West Indies Under-19 off-spinner Sunil Narine 57 and Marlon Barclay 37.
Kwesi Roy (4/96), ex-Barbados and Windies all-rounder Ryan Hurley (3/74) and Anderson Bryce (2/44) were the pick of the Preysal bowlers.
In their second innings, Preysal finished at 41 without loss, and they walked away with eight points, while the Parkites secured 14 points.
Defending champs First Citizens Clarke Road (17 points) took first innings points at home to Powergen (five) at Wilson Road, Penal. Resuming at 97/3 in pursuit of Powergen’s first innings total of 121, the hosts declared at 215/7 with Varendra Maraj unbeaten on 70 while ex- TT batsman Gregory Mahabir made 43, while national ‘limited-overs’ leg-spinner Samuel Badree snared 6/61.
Powergen declared their second innings score at 181/8 with Rishi Bachan notching 56 and another TT ‘limited-overs’ specialist Sherwin Ganga 32, while veteran Mukesh Persad (3/64) and St Vincent’s Kenroy Peters (2/34) led the Clarke Road bowling.
Round Two matches will be contested on March 8 and 9.
