Jon Secada coming to TT

Secada’s Latin pop style has mesmerised fans all around the world. He’s written and produced songs for major recording artistes such as Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan and Jennifer Lopez, and he’s sold over 20 million albums.

Secada was born in Havana, Cuba, and moved to the United States at the age of nine. He later enrolled at the University of Miami where he developed his considerable skills as a songwriter. In the late 1980s he joined Gloria Estefan as a background singer and co-wrote “Coming Out of the Dark,” Gloria’s number one hit from her 1991 album Into the Light.

His self-titled solo debut (released 1992) sold six million plus copies worldwide and was certified triple platinum in the US, where it reached No 15 among Billboard Pop albums. He followed with the Gold single “Just Another Day,” and three more top 30 hits, “Angel,” “I’m Free,” and “Do You Believe in Us?”

Apart from his dedication to music, Secada devotes himself to various charitable endeavours. He was appointed by US President George Bush to serve on his Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans with a goal of closing the educational achievement gap between Hispanic students and their peers.
