Five Trinis graduate from Victory Christian

The quintet are Jenelle Cunningham, Joel Coker, Denisha Thomas, Keston George and Iyesha Ollivierre.

Cunningham attended Murray State University, Kentucky, Coker to Briar Cliff College, Long Island, Thomas to Georgian Court, New Jersey, George attended Manhat-tanville College, New York and Ollivierre, Youngstown State University, Ohio. Both Thomas and Ollivierre are members of the TT national under-20 women football team while George is in the Under-20 men squad.

All five came through the VCA foreign students programme, a facility founded by Pastor Anthony Seaton and his wife Barbara.

Seaton who along with his family migrated to the United States from Morvant, here, started the VCA with a desire to give back to those who are responsible for the achievements in his life which has led to his graduation with a Master of Science degree in Counselling and wife Barbara a Master of Science degree in Education,.

The couple has ventured to create an avenue by which individuals could achieve similar experiences.

And they decided to offer this opportunity through a programme mixing education with sports, for youths aged 12 to 18.

But lately, the founders of Victory Church of God and Victory Christian Academy have been experiencing limited resources and while offering young Trinidadians full scholarships including airfare, room board and meals are requesting parents of the six students still in the programme to contribute to the living accommodations of the students. One Bermudan who has seen the VCA programme in August this year, compelled Pastor Seaton and his wife to make it available to his country.

Out of this, a group of church leaders, club officials, educators, businessmen and some “concerned” government officials formed an alliance to see young Bermudians receive the VCA experience.
