University All Stars take on Joe Public

Dr Taylor was a Mona graduate who was promoted to the heights of Chief of Ophthalmology at the Cornwall General Hospital as well as Associate Professor of Ophthalmol-ogy at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada.

Only yesterday, the Mona Campus (Jamaica) and the University of the West Indies (Trinidad and Tobago) met in a decider of the University Games’ football in front of the Administration Building, St Augustine Campus. The game was among a number of sporting activities contested by over 400 athletes from three different campuses — Cave Hill (Barbados); Mona (Jamaica) and the UWI (TT).

On the opening day of the tournament Cave Hill men basketballers demolished St Augustine 96-49.

And the Mona Campus whipped St Augustine men by 90 runs at cricket on Friday last.

However the St Augustine men rebounded in hockey, beating Mona 3-1 but their female counterparts were shut out 2-0 by Cave Hill in the women series.

Meanwhile, in tennis on Friday, Mona pulled off an impressive 4-1 victory over Cave Hill and later whipped St Augustine 3-0 in volleyball.
