Van driver shot April 5, dies a month later
He was identified as Lukman Ali, of Munroe Road, Cunupia.
According to a police report, Ali was driving his Nissan panel van out of a trace where he lived in the vicinity of the Inspection Station when a lone gunman walked up to the vehicle and shot him once to the chest.
The gunman then escaped.
Speaking with Newsday at the Forensic Science Centre in St James yesterday, one of Ali’s relatives said they are not sure why someone would want to kill Ali, but suspects that it was linked to a “family property dispute in the past”. Ali transported students of the Queens Royal College and the Woodbrook Secondary School in Port-of-Spain.
Ali’s son, Khamal described his father as “a quiet person, who was also humble and polite”.
Investigations are continuing.
