Stewards Cup worth going to see

The 1200 metres race promises speed to burn with champion racehorse Bruceontheloose, Readbetweendlines, Signal Alert, and “new kid on the block” Get It All ready to make the charge to the post.

But the Cup will not be the only race holding the interest of turfites as they will be keebnly watching the two-year-old “Babes” slug it out over 1200 metres in the Stud Farm Association Breeders Stakes.

Keen eyes will follow the fortunes of Song Of Class, a daughter of triple crown winner Top Of The Class who showed plenty speed in her debut run.

In this 10-horse field, however, anything can happen especially among the “babes”.

Another race to capture the attention of turfites will be the race for three- year-olds and over horses rated 90 and over with a purse of $77,000.

Last year Derby winner Back On Top, runner-up Go For The Gold and Sam’s Hero are set to match strides along with the game filly Grand Riviere.

Turfites will also be tested to come up with the winner of the 1750 metres race for three-year-olds and over horses rated 90-70.

Here, the winner could come from among at least seven in the field of 12 entrants.

The day’s programme features 10 races with some large fields and those turfites who prefer the Hi5 betting will be in their element with four races - fourth, sixth, eighth and 10th - being designated for that type of wagering.
