TTEC, Connection in Toyota final

The final will be contested at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from eight o’clock.

Ma Pau won the 2010-2011 crown but are now defunct, while North East Stars, last year’s runner-up club, lost to St Ann’s Rangers in the quarter-final stage.

The winners of tonight’s match will walk away with a $45,000 jackpot while the runners-up will pocket $15,000.

There will also be incentives, overall, for the Most Valuable Player and the Leading Goal Scorer, who will each benefit from sums valued at $800.

Both TTEC and Connection, by virtue of their top places in the Pro League (at the start of the Toyota Clasic), were given first round byes in this year’s competition (which featured the six Pro League teams and the top eight from the Bmobile National Super League). In the quarter-final stage, TTEC ousted Stokely Vale 4-2 while Connection defeated Tobago Phoenix 1-0. And, in the last four, TTEC eliminated Rangers 2-1 while Connection spanked San Juan Jabloteh 4-2.

Connection were victorious in the inaugural final, by a 1-0 margin over Jabloteh, but have never been in the final since, while this is TTEC’s first Toyota Classic decider.

While TTEC and Connection will bring down the curtains on the tournament, the Toyota staff workers will be engaged in a friendly encounter against a collection of coaches/technical staff members from the Pro League.
