One dead after Couva accident

Police identified the victim as Scott Eli, of Irving Street, San Fernando.

Four other persons, however, survived the accident.

A police report stated at about 7.30 am yesterday, Eli was driving a Nissan Frontier in a northerly direction along the Southern Main Road in Mc Bean, Couva, when he collided with a ten-tonne Solo delivery truck.

Eli was pronounced dead at the scene while his front seat passenger, Prince Ankamah, sustained minor injuries and was rushed to the Couva District Health Facility.

The truck driver and two other occupants of the truck also sustained minor injuries and sought medical treatment, police detectives said.

Acting Sub-station officer Durga and other officers of the Couva Fire Station, together with officers of the Couva Police Station, responded and had to direct traffic along the road.

No one else was injured in the accident and investigations are continuing.

Only on Friday, 21-year-old university student Stephan Kissoon, of Penco Lands, Chaguanas, died in an accident along the Uriah Butler Highway.
