Cycle duo pedal to the top
Action was on the second day of the National Track Cycling Championships, which continued at the Arima Velodrome, on Sunday.
The second day of competition saw Maharajh pedal to victory and a personal best time of five minutes 4.58 seconds in the four-kilometre Individual Pursuit, shattering his previous record of 5:06.035, which he attained in Medellin, Colombia.
He then lifted the Elite Men’s Omnium title after recording golden performances in the 15km Scratch Race and 1km Time Trial.
After two days of Omnium events, the Madonna Wheelers rider tallied an overall score of eight points. On Saturday, Maharajh stood in pole position when he won the Flying 250m and Elimination. However, he had to settle for third spot in the Points Race.
Receiving silver was Barry Luces while Troy Luces claimed bronze.
In the Juniors division, Campbell continued in his dominant stride and also clocked a personal best time of 3:59.62 in the Individual Pursuit. He then finished as runner-up in the 10km Scratch Race and won the 1km Time Trial. After these events, the Rigtech Sonics rider lifted the Juniors title on seven points.
