Police nab 18 in sweeping exercise in Woodbrook, Laventille

It was reported that the exercise began at about 6pm and ended at about 6 am yesterday, led by Senior Superintendent Wayne Boyd, Acting ASP Ajith Persad, Cpl Anthony Williams, Cpl Spence, PC Madeira, and WPC Waterman.

Among the 18 persons who were held, a 24-year-old man and 22-year-old were held for possession of a firearm and ammunition when the officers executed a search warrant at a home in Straker Village, Laventille.

Five persons were held for possession of narcotics while one man was held for having fake US currency.

A total of 20 traffic tickets were also issued to motorists for breaches of various traffic offences.
