Davidson, Murray-Mendes into Tranquillity semis

Davidson and Murray-Mendes defeated the fourth seed team of Kendall Cuffy and Richard McLetchie in straight sets. They won 6-4, 6-2 and will face Dunstan Denoon/ Javier Lewis in the semi-final clash.

Denoon/ Lewis’ match against the Auguste brothers, Dion and Colin, was dubbed the match of the tournament thus far by spectators, as the former triumphed with a close 7-6(5), 6-4 score-line. Top seeds in the Women’s Doubles category, Donna Chin Lee and Breana Stampfli also progressed into the semi-final stages after easily overpowering the duo of Joy Arjoon-Singh and Kelta Satahoo 6-0, 6-1.

Stampfli then partnered with Denoon and easily advanced to the Mixed Doubles semi-final. The division’s top seeds drubbed the combination of Sanjeev Seenath and Emma Rose Trestrail 6-1, 6-0.

Other Mixed Doubles results saw Richard Chung/ Sarah Escalante beat Keshan Moonasar/ juliet Campbell 6-2, 6-2; Richard McLetchie/ Donna Chin Lee defeat Kehron Ward/ Olivia Haslan 7-5, 3-3 retired; and Aaron Soo Ping Chow/ Aryanne Hart overcome Sanjay Pooran/ Leontien/ Snijders 5-5 retired.

The only Veterans Singles match that was played yesterday saw number five ranked Athelstan Phillips defeat Joel David 6-2, 6-2.
