Sangre Chiquito Mandir honours Lord Ganesh
During the celebration, the mandir presented an award to Dr Glen Ramadharsingh, Minister of the People and Social Development.
Pundit Doodnath Rampersad, on making the presentation to Dr Ramadharsingh, commended the Minister for his work.
“He is a people’s minister and always seeks their interest,” Rampersad said. He continued, “He focuses on various religions and gives willingly to have their religious place of worship functioning through generous donations. In order words he wants all religions to continue with their spiritual teachings so.. all (may) accept that there is a God, who we must always serve.”
Dr Ramadharsingh, his short address said once there is humility there is God. “If Trinidad and Tobago is to be strong then we must assist the weak in their daily challenges. People do not only need food, clothing and shelter to be strong but... telling them you love them can change their entire lives, in the process making them better citizens.”
Also present at the function were Collin Partap, Member of Parliament for Cumuto/Manzanilla, former councillor of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation Ben Soodeen, and Vel Lewis deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism.
The evening’s proceedings included readings from the Bhagvad Gita, religious songs and offerings, followed by a vegetarian meal which included roti, curried mango, pumpkin, potato, rice, dhal, khari, vegetables and Indian sweets.
