PNM maintaining ignorant position
I say “insincerity” because I have been hearing the PNM party throwing around words such as “draconian” and “unconstitutional” with regard to this Bill. I wonder however, if they have forgotten that when they brought the Bail to be debated in Parliament, they proposed to remove the “right” of Bail in its totality! Now, that is what I call draconian! In comparison, the present Bill is proposing no bail for up to 120 days. The PNM is clearly suffering from memory loss or are maintaining its ignorant position in an attempt to gain cheap political points.
It truly irks me that politicians in this country cannot put aside their personal politics and do what is best for its people. They go to Parliament and stand up on TV thinking that the population has forgotten their past positions, then open their mouths and utter falsehoods — as the PNM has done.
I see that the Bail Bill is due in the Senate soon. I hope to see a more genuine and intellectual debate. I truly hope and pray that good sense prevails and that “country” takes the forefront, giving the Bill the support that it requires to become law.
