Hawksbills, Tallawahs clash today
The Hawksbills will be looking forward to bouncing back from their two-wicket defeat to the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the opening game. Hawksbills, however, did have a few impressive performances with their Australian pair, Ben Dunk and Ben Laughlin along with their pace bowler, Sheldon Cottrell picking up three wickets.
While the Tallawahs will be in a confident mood after winning their match by seven wickets over the St Lucia Zouks, the Hawksbills will be reliant on a passionate home crowd for the match.
Marlon Samuels, Antigua Hawksbills captain remarked, “We had amazing support last year, and the fans created an awesome atmosphere, so we’re asking as many supporters as possible to get the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and get behind the Hawksbills.”
Chris Gayle, captain of the Tallawahs, lashed the first ever CPL century to finish with 111 not out from 63 balls, with ten sixes and five fours. Gayle will be joined by a host of T20 stars, including Andre Ruseell, Jerome Taylor, Jermaine Blackwood, Daniel Vettori, Adam Vogues, Rusty Theron and Owais Shah.
“It’s going to be a tough game, no doubt, but with home advantage and the backing of our passionate fans, we feel we can overcome the Tallawahs.
