16 charged for illegal water connections

The 16 residents were served with summons in April, to appear in court yesterday to give an account as to why they connected half-inch PVC lines to the public stand pipes.

The stand pipes are located some distance from the residents’ homes.

They appeared before magistrate Ava Vandenburgh-Bailey one after the other, each, except three of the residents who pleaded guilty to the charge that on April 28, they attached an apparatus, namely a pipe, to a public stand pipe without the permission of WASA, at Standley Ville, Ste Madeleine. Seema Ramcharan, Felicia Mohan, Michaelle Joseph, Damien Francois, Candice Legendre, Kenneth Vulter and Lynton Makeson, the latter having pleaded not guilty, appeared among the 16.

The remaining will return to court today
