Men held with shotgun, bulletproof vest

According to police reports, officers of the Western Division Task Force executed a search warrant for arms and ammunition at the home of a 30-year-old man of Freedom Street, Cocorite.

The police found and seized four grammes of marijuana found in an empty cigarette box. The police also found one bulletproof vest with the words, “Police” printed on it. The exercise was conducted by PC McLean, PC Duntin, PC Harris, PC Kassie, and several others.

Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man was arrested after a loaded pump-action shotgun was found at his Diego Martin home on Saturday last. According to police reports, officers of the Western Division Task Force, including Cpl Dominique, PC Ward, PC Dennis, and PC Duntin, executed a search warrant where they found a Mossberg shot gun with five rounds of ammunition. PC Ward is continuing investigations. And in an unrelated incident, an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Arima district between the hours of 4 pm on Friday and 9 am on Saturday has led to the arrest of seven suspects and the seizure of a quantity of illegal narcotics.

The seven are expected to appear in court today to answer charges.

The exercise was carried out by members of the Arima crime patrol and Northern Division Task Force. It was coordinated by Insp Mark Maharaj, supervised by Ag Cpl Messiah and included Ag Cpl Sookram and others. The ages of the detained persons one of whom is a woman, are from 18 to 58.

Raids were conducted at several houses while several vehicles were intercepted and searched.
