Dad shot and killed in bathroom

They then opened fire on a frequent visitor to the family, who at the time was taking a bath.

The victim was identified as Anthony Bissessar also called “Kevin”, 27, of Altima Drive, Marabella.

He met his death at the home of his common- law wife Anisa Mohammed at Parforce Road, Bonne Aventure, Gasparillo, where he had gone to pay her a visit. Bissessar was a father of one, 16-monthold Aiden Bissessar. Police reports are at about 6.30 pm on Wednesday, two gunmen ran into the house and demanded the location of the “man with the gold tooth and white jersey”.

The gunmen burst into the outdoor bathroom and opened fire at Bissessar, who had a gold cap over a tooth.

Before escaping on foot, they robbed the family of eight gold rings.

Apart from Bissessar, there were seven other persons in the house among them his baby son, girlfriend, two brothers-in-law, mother and father-in-law.

Speaking from the Forensic Science Centre, St James, Bissessar’s father-in-law Richard Gokool, 52, said family members are so traumatised they are finding it hard to believe that Bissessar was dead. He said that at about 1 pm on Wednesday, Bissessar visited the house where he often stayed, and was wearing a white t-shirt and pants. Sometime after Bissessar arrived, he went to take a nap on a couch and woke up at about 6 pm to get ready for work. Bissesssar worked as a courier with BK Holdings Limited at Couva.

“The gunmen checked the mouths of my two sons to see if they had a gold tooth cap. They watched me but did not check my mouth probably because I am older. Good thing my sons do not have gold teeth otherwise they too might have been killed,” Gokool said. Police believe a getaway vehicle may have been parked a short distance away.

Although a motive is yet to be established for the killing, police investigators said this was a planned “hit.” ACP Cecil Santana together with officers from the Gasparillo Police Station and Homicide Bureau ( San Fernando) visited the scene.

Police recovered six spent shells at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.

The year 2015 ended with 417 murders being committed.
